Elderflower Nutrition is now welcoming men in midlife

When I started Elderflower Nutrition, my plan was simple: work with women navigating perimenopause and menopause. That was the gap I saw, and it’s the work that got me to open my practice.

But somewhere in the first year, a pattern started. A client would mention her partner’s A1C was creeping up, or that he’d been handed a GLP-1 prescription with little guidance on what to actually eat or how to hold onto muscle while he lost weight. A few asked, half-joking, “Would you ever see him too?”

I said yes. Partly because as a new clinician, you take the experience where you can get it. But I found something I didn’t expect: I really enjoyed working with dudes!

Men in midlife are dealing with their own version of the same problem my female clients face: years of stress and wear and tear start to catch up with them, and the healthcare system responds with a diagnosis and twelve minutes to talk about it. An A1C that’s crept into the prediabetes range, cholesterol that keeps climbing, testosterone that’s dropped, the sleep study you keep avoiding. They’re told to watch their diet and exercise, and then they’re on their own.

What they needed wasn’t a different philosophy from what I already practice. It was the same one: take the labs seriously, build a plan around the life they actually have, and skip the part where we hand someone a list of foods to give up and call it done.

So I’m opening my doors. Elderflower Nutrition now works with men in midlife (ages 40ish to 60ish) in person in Mission Valley or virtually across several states. If someone in your life comes to mind (a husband, a brother, a friend), please feel free to forward this along. It might be exactly what they need to hear right now.
